Drink with a ‘Jersey Shore’ flair
If it’s Thursday, it’s time for MTV’s “Jersey Shore.”
Real fans know all about macho cast member Ronnie Ortiz-Magro’s penchant for a decidedly un-macho cocktail he calls Ron Ron Juice.
It looks suspiciously like a Shirley Temple on ice – only this one has vodka. The eternally shirtless Ronnie mixes watermelon, cherries, cranberry juice, vodka and ice. There’s no magic to the recipe. On the show, Ron Ron Juice goes in the blender before a night out, as a kind of fuel for bar fights.
During filming earlier this year in South Beach, the cast partied at Ocean’s Ten, which will feature a version of the drink using Ron Abuelo Anejo, a blend of aged Panamanian rums, in place of vodka.
Abuelo’s Ron Ron Juice is available at Ocean’s Ten through Aug. 26. It’s $15 for a 36-ounce version during the day, when the bar only serves oversized cocktails. That same-size drink is $30 at night or $10 for a 12-ounce version.
