Apex Legends vs. Blackout is the newest debate in the battle royale battlefield since Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts dropped the Titanfall inspired game Monday.
With a new battle royale game trying to dominate the market, it's got some giants to go up against. Activision and Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 brought the first CoD BR mode with Blackout. The AAA title goes toe-to-toe with Fortnite and PUBG, but can Apex Legends top the CoD giant?
Here's three differences between Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Blackout.
Apex Legends vs. Blackout: 3 Differences Between the Games
1. Playlist Selection
As of writing and release of Apex Legends, the core and only playlist in the game is trios based. Blackout has solos, duos and quads, but no trios option. In fact, Fortnite just introduced trios for the first time recently. Respawn appears to think trios is the best way to play not only Apex Legends, but battle royale as a whole.
2. Hero-Based Gameplay
Apex Legends at its core strives on player and legend composition. While players can select their characters in Blackout, they are only cosmetic selections. Legends, as they are called in Apex Legends, each have unique abilities to them. There are offensive, defensive and supportive characters which sync up to create unique gameplay. People can choose legends in the game and play to their liking and style.
3. Bring Your Teammates Back to Life
A core component of Apex Legends is the ability to revive fallen teammates during a game. Yes, Blackout did that with the Down But Not Out playlist, but it was a limited time mode. Respawns are built into the mechanics and layout of Apex Legends. To revive a teammate that's been fully killed, you must retrieve a player banner and then drop it off at a respawn beacon. Be careful though, because teammates will respawn with an empty inventory.
