BRIDAL PATH FASHION GETS THE NANNY TREATMENT

She’s the first lady of outrageous fashions.

Every episode for the past five years, Fran Drescher has worn dizzying micro-minis, bold animal prints and midriff-baring tops in her role as The Nanny. Unlike any other child-care provider, Nanny Fine regularly dons designer duds by Todd Oldham, Herve Leger and Isaac Mizrahi.

“Moschino is great because it has a certain larger-than-life humor,” Drescher said. “But Todd is the standard. Every once in a while I stick in a little Dolce & Gabbana.”

But tonight at 8, she just might wear her most talked-about ensemble yet. After years of slap and giggle, Nanny Fran Fine is finally marrying her employer Maxwell Sheffield. Her bridal gown is being kept under tight wraps, but we know it was designed by Celeste of Beverly Hills.

“Let me tell you, it really came out gorgeous,” Drescher said over her car phone on the way to the studio in Los Angeles. “It’s an all-American girl fantasy of what a bridal gown should look like. It’s very traditional in silhouette with silk flowers in strategic places. It has diamonds and clusters of pearls. It’s very nipped-in at the waist with boning that lifts my bust. It has a heart-shaped neckline and gold lace that came from Paris on the sleeves that come down to a point on my hands. Oh, and it has a 15-foot train.”

Drescher said she started thinking like a bride weeks before taping the segment. “I would say, ‘I can’t have that dessert; I have to fit into a wedding gown.’ “

The svelte star, who wears a “size 2 or 4 or sometimes a 6, depending on the designer,” said she’s always had a weight problem.

“Now that I’m in therapy it’s nowhere near as much an issue as it was before,” Drescher said. “I’ve learned that it’s true that it’s not what you eat, but what’s eating you. I also take a lot of lessons I learned in Weight Watchers.”

Off-camera, Drescher style doesn’t stray far from her on-screen character’s. “I wore Krizia on Jay Leno and Herve Leger to the Emmys. I wore Todd Oldham to the CFDA [Council of Fashion Designers of America) awards. I tend to wear things that are a little more tailored or more monochromatic than Nanny Fine.”
