On the job strategies
Leadership: It’s an essential component to success: fostering trust, maintaining transparent communication and, doing whatever it takes to make your soldiers and/or employees successful.
Understand the network. The enthusiasm to assist veterans in Broward County is breathtaking, with an array of community leaders and “veteran champions,” many of whom have worn our nation’s uniform, who possess an unwavering passion for our veteran community.
Know your talent. It takes our veterans some extra effort to translate the skills and experience they accumulated in uniform into a digestible form for future employers. Our veterans emerge from the military with staggering amounts of experience related to job responsibility and achieving critical outcomes in short windows of time. And frankly, veterans come with many skills many employers take for granted. Veterans show up on time, learn to do anything if given a chance, are disciplined, follow instructions and will emerge as leaders in your organization.
Advice: Step up to lead when no one else does, seek more training, always have a goal, learn from bad leaders as much as from good leaaders.
