Carol Moyer Obituary, Death – After a brief illness, Carol “Joyce” Moyer died away peacefully on Friday, September 8, 2023. Paul Wilson and Cleo (Clouse) Wilson welcomed Joyce, as she was known for the majority of her life, into the world on November 7, 1939 in Jackson, Michigan. The youngest of three children, she was. She attended high school in Warren, where the family had recently relocated, and loved to sing and cheer. In Hartford City, Joyce wed Stephen Moyer, and there they raised their daughter Trudy as loving parents.

After taking care of the house while Trudy was growing up, she later worked as the deputy treasurer for Blackford County and the Hartford City Clerk’s office. Joyce and Steve participated in a number of bridge clubs including the Hartford City Elks. In order to be near Trudy and their grandchildren Bradley Ludwig and Jessica (Ludwig) Hathaway, they retired and moved to West Lafayette.

Steve and Joyce were a constant fixture at all of Bradley and Jessica’s activities, including sporting events, band performances, and school events. In Marco Island, Florida, snowbirds spent the winters. In Westminster Village, West Lafayette, Joyce relocated to an apartment after Steve passed away there in 2017. There, she participated in bridge groups, euchre competitions, and various other activities. While at Westminster Village, she also made a lot of cherished friends.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Trudy (husband Clinton Todd Guthrie) of West Lafayette, her grandson Bradley Ludwig (wife Katie) of Palatine, Illinois, her granddaughters Jessica (husband Logan Hathaway) of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Allison Guthrie of Chicago, Illinois, and Megan (husband Trey Moore) of Brazil, as well as several nieces and nephews.
