Chris Thile Biography
Chris Thile is a mandolinist, songwriter, singer, composer, and radio presenter from the United States. He is most known for his work with Punch Brothers, an acoustic folk and progressive bluegrass quintet, and Nickel Creek, a progressive acoustic trio. Chris was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2012.
In October 2016, he began hosting the radio variety show A Prairie Home Companion, which was rebranded Live from Here in December 2017.

Chris and Punch Brothers planned a year-long tour in 2008 to promote “Punch,” as well as an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on February 29. The band performed “Rye Whiskey” on The Late Show with David Letterman on November 5, 2010, featuring Steve Martin on banjo.
Chris released a new joint album with Edgar Meyer, Bass & Mandolin, in 2014, and began a tour in support of the album. In addition, in 2014, he returned with Nickel Creek to celebrate their 25th anniversary with a new album called A Dotted Line. The band also went on a national tour called NC25.
