CKay Biography

Chukwuka Ekweani popularly known as Ckay was born in Kaduna, a state in the north-western region of Nigeria. His love for music was driven by his father, at their local church who was a choir conductor. While growing up, CKay was moved by musical instruments, which prompted him to learn the piano from his father.

Thereafter, a friend Fruity Loops introduced him to the production software. He started his music career as a member of a band, made up of him and two other bandmates, before starting his solo career as CKay. During his free time, He likes touring.

In a bid to make a career out of music, in 2014, He relocated to Lagos State, and during those periods, CKay was signed by Loopy Musicas a production intern, a record label that later merged with Chocolate City and allowed CKay to serve with some popular names like Kenya’s Victoria Kimani, MI Abaga, Ice Prince, and Dice Ailes.

CKay would later release his first EP titled ‘Who the fuck is CKay’ under Chocolate City at then CKay was an unknown figure in the music industry. He released another song in 2019 under the same label titled CKay The First.

But on the 11th of February 2021, He released his third extended play, known as Boyfriend through Warner Music South Africa, and the talented singer on the 4th of May 2021, revealed he was no longer signed to Chocolate City but Warner Music South Africa.
