A 13-year-old boy died in a violent crash while riding his bicycle in Boynton Beach Wednesday afternoon, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Blake Buchbinder, of Boynton Beach, was riding his bike northbound within the crosswalk across Boynton Beach Boulevard on the west side of Lyons Road, against the traffic signals, according to a Sheriff’s Office media release.
Meanwhile, Michelle Ruf, 61, of Okeechobee, was driving a Ford Escape westbound through the intersection. When Buchbinder rode into Ruf’s path, “a violent crash occurred,” the release states.
The left front of the Ford hit the right side of Buchbinder and his bicycle, throwing him onto the hood of the car and into the windshield, before he fell to the pavement.
Ruf sustained minor injuries in the crash, according to the release.
