Crime and Public Safety | Fort Lauderdale firefighters battle Christmas morning blaze twice on same street

Deputy Chief Garrett Pingol said the first call came after midnight Sunday of a mobile home along Northwest First Avenue on fire. While crews were tending to that blaze, they got another call of an unrelated fire in the same mobile home complex just down the street. More firefighters rushed to the scene, he said.

Both homes were “completely destroyed,” but vacant at the time so nobody was displaced, Pingol said.

The busy Monday morning followed a weekend fire where a sanctuary at the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church was gutted Saturday night.

Pingol said there were no injuries in any of the fires, and the causes are now under investigation.
