Details of 14 sniper shootings, including 10 fatalities, in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia, according to police.
1. At 5:20 p.m. on Oct. 2, a bullet pierced a window at Michaels craft store at 13850 Georgia Ave. in the Aspen Hill area. No one was hurt.
2. At 6:04 p.m. on Oct. 2, James Martin, 55, is killed in the parking lot of Shoppers Food Warehouse grocery store in Wheaton. Martin, a Civil War buff and an amateur genealogist, was a program analyst for the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration.
3. At 7:41 a.m. on Oct. 3, James L. “Sonny” Buchanan, 39, is killed while mowing the grass at Fitzgerald Auto Mall in White Flint. Buchanan’s company provided landscaping services for the dealership.
4. At 8:12 a.m. on Oct. 3, Prem Kumar Walekar, 54, a cab driver, is killed while filling his cab with gas at a Mobil gas station at 4100 Aspen Hill Road in Aspen Hill.
5. At 8:37 a.m. on Oct. 3, Sarah Ramos, 34, is killed outside the post office at 3802 International Boulevard in Silver Spring.
6. At 9:58 a.m. on Oct. 3, Lori Ann Lewis-Rivera, 25, is killed at a Shell gas station at Knowles and Connecticut avenues in Kensington.
7. At 9:20 p.m. on Oct. 3, Pascal Charlot, 72, is killed while walking along Georgia Avenue near the Montgomery County line.
8. At 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 4, a 43-year-old woman is shot in the parking lot of a Michaels crafts store in Fredericksburg, Va., about 50 miles south of D.C. She survives. (see map)
9. At 8:09 a.m. on Oct. 7, a 13-year-old boy is shot and critically wounded as his aunt dropped him off at Benjamin Tasker Middle School in Bowie. (see map)
10. At 8:10 p.m. on Oct. 9, Dean Meyers, 53, is killed at a Sunoco gas station in Manassas, Va. (see map). Meyers was a project manager in the Manassas office of Dewberry & Davis, a civil engineering firm.
11. At 9:30 a.m.on Oct. 11, Kenneth H.
Bridges, 53, of Philadelphia, is shot at the
Exxon gas station at 5409 Jefferson Davis Highway in Fredericksburg, Va. He was taken to Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
12. At 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 14, Linda Franklin, 47, of Arlington, Va., was killed in the lower level of a parking garage of the Home Depot at 6210 Seven Corners Center in Falls Church, Va. Franklin, an FBI analyst who studied terror threats, was shot once in the head while loading packages into her car. She was with her husband, police said. Police were seeking a light-colored Chevrolet Astro van with a ladder rack and burned-out left rear tail light.
13. Around 8 p.m. on Oct. 19, a 37-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and critically wounded as he walked across the parking lot of a Ponderosa restuarant in Ashland, Va. Police conclusively linked the shooting to the other sniper attacks on Oct. 21. Officials have released no identifying information about the victim other than to say that he was not from Virginia. He was traveling with his wife.
14. Around 6 a.m. on Oct. 22, 35-year-old bus driver Conrad Johnson of Prince George’s County was fatally shot in the chest in the Aspen Hill area of Montgomery County, less than a half-mile from where the sniper’s rampage began Oct. 2. Johnson, a married father of two, was standing at the top of the steps of his Ride On commuter bus when he was shot.
