Among these were the legendary “Snowvember 2.0” Lake Effect Snowstorm in November 2022, the 2022 Buffalo Christmas Blizzard, and the EF-3 Jefferson City Tornado, for which she was recognized with a National Murrow Award for her storm coverage. Her most recent achievement was being recognized by the New York State Broadcaster’s Association as the 2022 Best Weathercast winner. Additionally, Elyse has been highlighted in Missouri Magazine, Bloomberg, CBS News Radio, and the Washington Post.

Smith is a well-known Meteorologist who has been working for WGRZ in Buffalo, NY since 2017. She reported from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology in 2017.

She has also worked alongside KRCG’s Chief Meteorologist Zach Paul, was nominated in Missouri Magazine’s “Best Of” contest, and was subsequently named as Local Heroes for their work covering the dangerous weather that night.
