FIU TAKES FINAL THREE GAMES TO TOP FLORIDA TECH

Florida International University won three consecutive games to rally to defeat visiting Florida Tech 12-15, 8-15, 15-12, 15-4, 15-9 Tuesday night in women’s volleyball.

Junior Jennifer Freedman, a Douglas High graduate, had 10 kills and four blocks, while senior Aimee Wells, a Cooper City product, had 25 assists.

With the score tied at 8 in the fifth game, FIU (1-3) went up 11-8 on three consecutive kills by freshman Sandie Rokosik, Freedman and Wells. The Golden Panthers took a 14-9 lead and on match point, Freedman and Jessica Andreolas blocked a kill attempt for the final point.

Men’s soccer

* Nova Southeastern 3, Barry University 1: Christian Goffi, Christian Cubillas and Lenny Eterno scored for the Knights (3-1) at the NSU soccer complex. Barry dropped to 2-1. The Knights host Flagler College on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Women’s volleyball

* St. Thomas University d. Florida Memorial College 15-3, 15-13, 15-10: Salin Paez led the Bobcats (3-2, 1-0) with six kills and 12 digs. Becky Gonzalez added 25 kills and Ingrid Gonzalez had four kills and 38 assists.

* Palm Beach Atlantic d. Northwood University 15-4, 15-13, 15-7: The Sailfish (4-6, 1-0) were led with Leslie Walker’s 11 kills and Kelly Queen’s 10 kills. The Seahawks fell to 2-10, 0-1.
