Grookey Evolution: Pokémon Sword & Shield

Grookey is one of a few prop-based Pokémon in the series. The Grass-Type Pokémon uses a special stick both to make music that revitalizes nearby plants and to attack enemies.

At level 16, Grookey can evolve into Thwackey and start dual-wielding sticks. At level 35, Thwackey can evolve into Rillaboom and perfect its stick playing.

Grookey Rarity: Pokémon Sword & Shield

Grookey is at once rare and extremely common. Because it is a starter Pokémon, roughly one third of all players will have a Grookey in their collection. At the same time, anyone who doesn't choose Grookey at game start will never find one in the wild.

Grookey Location: Pokémon Sword & Shield

Outside of being one of three starter options, Grookey cannot be found in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

Grookey Stats: Pokémon Sword & Shield

Grookey's base stats are as follows:

  • HP: 50
  • Attack: 65
  • Defense: 50
  • Sp. Attack: 40
  • Sp. Def: 40
  • Speed: 65
