The maxme is a Allwinner a31 board... i am trying to do the same thing i successfully rooted it just now trying to figure out how to upgrade the o/s.
the issue is the hardware signature is Matco_maxme and no recovery partition software like Clockwork, Titanium, or twrp recognizes it...
