The Tool Ring may just be the most useful Nook Miles purchase in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
As they progress through the game, players of Nintendo's latest Animal Crossing title can unlock several unique boons to improve their quality of life on the island. Whether it's fun emotes to help wish your villagers a good day or Mystery Island tickets to go questing for more materials, New Horizons actively tries to reward its players for completing milestones. The Tool Ring is one such reward, giving players access to their tools at a much quicker rate.

How to Get the Tool Ring in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Players can purchase the Tool Ring from the Nook Stop in the island's town hall for 800 Nook Miles. It's listed as "Tool Ring: It's Essential" in the catalogue and appears after the player has paid off their initial loan of 5000 Miles.
Once bought, it gives access to a quick swap wheel with eight slots for the tools in the player's inventory. Slots on the wheel are automatically assigned to each different tool starting at the top and moving clockwise. Tools can be removed and reassigned at will by pressing "x" while the wheel is open—much like the Emote Ring.
The Tool Ring is brought up by pressing up on the directional pad (D-pad). From there, players can quickly swap out what they need without having to go all the way through their pockets. This makes it much more efficient to do work around the island.
