James Dobson, born on October 30th, 1947, in Berkeley, California, was a remarkable soul with a story that deserves to be told. Jim’s journey began as a military kid, born to his parents Francis and Thomas Dobson, who originally hailed from Texas. Life had a unique path laid out for Jim, one that led him to places near and far, but it was his mother, ‘Fran,’ and stepfather, Ken Bright, who provided the nurturing environment he needed during his formative years.
While Jim’s birthplace was in California, much of his upbringing occurred on the idyllic island of Guam, where he was molded into the remarkable man we came to know and love.
