KomodoHype, the meme-y lizard that's long competed with PogChamp to be the face of Twitch chat's excitement, will officially replace its now-disgraced opponent, Twitch announced Friday.
Twitch viewers put an end to the sordid PogChamp saga by voting KomodoHype the new face of PogChamp following a tryout period lasting one month.
The community has spoken!

Twitch initially removed PogChamp from its host of emotes after Ryan "Gootecks" Gutierrez, the face behind PogChamp, used his Twitter account to promote further unrest during the riot that took the US Capitol building Jan. 6.
Twitch made several attempts to replace Gutierrez' face, beginning with a program that would rotate PogChamp to a new face of excitement each day. The faces were drawn from the many already on Twitch in an attempt to spotlight the diverse creators working on the platform, but it quickly turned them into lightning rods for harassment.
Twitch then pivoted to this new voting system, streaming the election process live and allowing users to choose their new PogChamp.
