Born on October 19, 1952, to parents Amelia Gertrude Husky Moriarty and Cornelius (Connie) Moriarty in Navasota, Texas, Judge Lanny Moriarty spent his entire life in Richards, Texas. A faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Richards, he embodied the values of his tight-knit community and made significant contributions to Montgomery County.
Lanny’s educational journey began in the first grade and continued until his graduation from Richards High School in 1970. Following his academic achievements, he joined Georgia Pacific (Louisiana Pacific) and dedicated himself to his work until 1972. However, his true calling emerged when he stepped into the realm of public service. In 1971, Lanny Moriarty commenced his career in law enforcement, a decision that marked the beginning of his lifelong commitment to serving the public. His initial foray into public service was with the Houston Police Department, a testament to his dedication to maintaining law and order within the community.
