As crews dealt with a sinkhole that led to road repair in Fort Lauderdale, officials warned drivers to avoid an intersection along East Commercial Boulevard.
The hole, which was about 20 feet long and 10 feet wide, appeared near the intersection of Bayview Drive and Commercial Boulevard on Friday morning, according to an advisory issued by Commissioner John Herbst.
Officers were diverting traffic while public works crews worked on fixing the roadway. The road closures will remain until Monday.
The hole formed as a result of a collapsing gravity main, or sewer pipe, according to the city’s public works department.
