Deputies say a man known as “Spider Mike” threatened another man with a folding knife attached to a set of brass knuckles after the two got into a disagreement in a West Boca neighborhood.
The altercation began around 4 p.m. Friday when “Spider Mike,” whose real name is Michael Ferreira, 48, of Boca Raton, nearly hit the victim with his Dodge Durango, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report.
The victim, who’d been using a leaf blower to clear grass cuttings at the corner of Atlantic Circle and Anchorage Way, shouted at Ferreira for driving recklessly.
Ferreira stopped his car in the middle of the road and charged at the victim, yelling that he was going to beat him up, the report said. The victim began retreating and shouting for him to stop, but Ferreira reached into his back pocket and pulled out the brass knuckles/knife. He stormed toward the victim with the knife exposed.
The victim yelled to witnesses for help. Noticing them, Ferreira jumped into his vehicle and drove away. He was later found by deputies and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
County records show Ferreira was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and released later Friday after posting $3,000 bail.
