Early Life and Education
Maurene was born on September 10, 1954, to Maurice and Jurene (Powell) Green in Alliance, Nebraska. Her early years in Alliance shaped her into a resilient and compassionate individual. After completing her education at Alliance High School in 1972, Maurene embarked on a new chapter of her life in Omaha, where she began her professional journey with Mutual of Omaha.
Building a Family and Career
The subsequent years saw Maurene settling back in Western Nebraska. It was here that she married Jim Garner and devoted herself to nurturing their two daughters. Despite the challenges that life presented, including a divorce, Maurene’s resilience and dedication to her family never wavered.
Finding Love and Adventure
Life was transformed when Maurene moved to North Platte and met Jim Power – her true love. Together they created an inviting home where family and friends could gather. Travel was always on their agenda together – from Arizona’s breathtaking desert landscapes, East and West Coast cities as well as Alaska’s remote wilderness regions.
Community Involvement and Legacy
Maurene’s involvement in the First United Methodist Church and a women’s prayer group highlighted her spiritual dedication and community spirit. Her commitment to supporting and connecting with her grandchildren was a cornerstone of her life, reflecting her deep family values.
A Fond Farewell
Maurene Green passed away last year, predeceased by her father Maurice Green. She leaves a legacy of love and fond memories with her mother Jurene Green, her daughters, siblings, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren – as per her wishes, a Celebration of Life was held to commemorate her memory and contributions to her community.
Maurene Gail Garner was an embodiment of what an impactful individual can do for both family and community. Her life journey, filled with love, challenges, joy and legacy, continues to inspire all who knew her. Her life will live on in many hearts forever more.
