In my first year of teaching, I asked my students what they wanted to be when they grew up. I noticed that some of them had big ambitions! It took some time that most thought it was just a dream and that it could not really happen. My students were discouraged and it wasn’t JUST the pandemic. This year I want to incorporate more about the children’s potential. I want them to be equipped with basic information about college that I didn’t have myself as a high school senior. Most of my students will be the first in their family to attend college if they decide to go. It’s important that the students in this community know options and we have these talks early.
