Hosted by star chef Michelle Bernstein, the foodie fave-rave, “Check, Please! South Florida,” is embarking on a new season — with everything from Caribbean, Cuban and Cajun to South African, Sardinian and even Pan-Asian Latin fusion cuisines making an appearance.
The PBS-TV series will launch Season 20 at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 17, on WPBT-Ch. 2 and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, on WXEL-Ch. 42. As part of the format, three South Floridians visit restaurants, gastropubs or delicatessens and dine separately and anonymously as amateur food critics. Then they dish about the eateries and their experiences at a roundtable, with Bernstein and a little wine thrown in for good measure.
The recipe works because in December the show won a 2022 Suncoast Emmy Award.
“Not only will South Florida PBS broadcast these 10 new episodes to an estimated 6.5 million viewers, but we will also make the series accessible online, helping to expose our digital audience to new restaurants, dishes and recipes from chef Bernstein,” says Dolores Fernandez Alonso, president and CEO of South Florida PBS.
After they premiere on TV, you can find the episodes at checkpleasefl.com.
