RETAP: EU LCS Summer Promotion Origen vs Misfits Academy

The bottom-tier LCS team in Origen went up against one of the best challenger teams we've seen in a while, Misfits Academy, in a pretty one-sided series. We all know Origen's playstyle after their first game in every series they play, so I wasn't too surprised by the outcome after I watched the first match.

Final score: [L] Origen 0 - 3 Misfits Academy [W]

The Drafts

Throughout all three games, the premise for picks and bans stayed relatively the same for MFA. Get rid of the Malzahar, Elise, and Camille first rotation, Zyra and Leblanc on the second. Origen seemingly didn't pick up on this at all during the second game's p/b phase and it cost them big time.

The picks saw a similar story for both teams, however. Origen were doing a bit of a throwback by using ADC Kennen for the first two games, only to realize that it wasn't working. Florent "Yuuki60" Soler, ADC for Misfits Academy, proved to be too strong for the last place EU LCS team, picking up a pentakill in Game 1 and showing dominance throughout the series.

Origen's Lack of Decision Making

While much can be said about the lackluster picks from Origen, their decision making at various points in each game can only be described as atrocious.

Bad Baron calls, strange teleport plays, and disjointed team fights -- if we can even call them that -- is a good indicator that maybe they just didn't belong in the LCS this split after going 0-5.

The journey has gotten that much shorter for Misfits Academy, but as for the rest of the teams competing, either Giants or Origen are going down a notch; all aboard the challenger train.
