Riot Games Responds to Valorant Ranked Bug

An unused rank in Valorant forced Riot Games to respond to a new ranked bug. Some players have been managing to ascend to the "new rank" of unused rank, likely because of some leftover code from the game's development.

This glitch is also connected to the glitch that players experienced where they were aggressively demoted in rank by the game, some players reporting that they needed a ratio of two wins to every one loss just to maintain their rank.

We have a fix in place for the miscalibrated ranks in North America - if you play one game, you should get synced back to what your real rank is.

Unused Rank Valorant: Riot Games Responds to Valorant Ranked Bug

Riot Games said on Reddit that the issue was caused by "a misconfiguration on the rank display calculation." The issue only affected players within the North American region and was present for a few hours before it was noticed.

Luckily the glitch only affected a player's displayed rank and not their actual rank within the game, so player matchmaking was not disrupted. Riot announced on Wednesday night that they had released a fix for the bug.

To fix the display error now, players just need to play a game to resync their rank, so if your buddy insists that their rank is only that low because of the glitch, just have them play a match.
