Over the weekend, Smash Rivalries pit West and East Coast against each other in a glorious Melee matchup.
There were incredible performances with even the threat of a non-god winning the invitational.
With so many to chose from, here are six of the best moments from this eventful weekend.
6. Golf Commentary
Due to their close proximity to the players, the overall commotion caused by the casters was comparative to golf commentators, quite atypical for Smash tournaments.
Wynton “Prog” Smith and D’Ron “D1” Maingrette star in this instance of calm commentary during round one of losers on day two.
5. West Coast is the Best Coast
The crew battle was exquisite, however, the post-game interview with the West Coast crew was hilarious, with Joseph "Mang0" Marquez and Kevin "PewPewU" Toy trash-talking East Coast.
Mang0's "sick captain dude" jab towards Sami "Druggedfox" Muhanna will live on through a meme somewhere I'm sure.
4. Mang0 Has Déjà vu
This is a middle of the pack moment, for not everyone enjoyed this Summit 4 rematch.
However, Daniel "ChuDat" Rodriguez proved his reverse 3-0 was not a fluke by repeating against Mang0 on Sunday.
This loss was visually upsetting for Mang0, but unlike Summit, Chudat was calm rather than yelling "Yeahyuz".
3. Wizzy Stalls Out
Justin "Wizzrobe" Hallet took on fellow East Coast legend Juan "Hungrybox" Debiedma.
Wizzrobe is known as a patient player in general, so when he is up against a mind-game player like Hungrybox, the sets are expected to be quite long.
This set came down to the last stock, with Wizzrobe avoiding Puff just enough so that he could take the time out game four victory.
2. SFAT Carries West Coast
Zachary "SFAT" Cordoni literally placed the West Coast on his back, taking ten stocks with his four during the Crew Battle to give the edge they needed to win.
His match against Druggedfox was crucial, as SFAT took all four stocks while only losing one of his own.
1. Wizzy Pops Off
The best moment from Smash Rivalries has to be Wizzrobe's popoff after reseting the bracket against Hungrybox in an extremely intense game five.
Sadly, Wizzrobe lost in the second set, but placing his first Melee tournament since GENESIS 4 in January is no small feat.
Smash Rivalries proved to be everything the community wanted and more.
Upsets over Jason "Mew2King" Zimmerman and Mang0 allowed for lower-ranking players to emerge, and Wizzrobe dominated in only his second Melee major this year.
CEO: Dreamland is rounding out nicely, so hopefully it can provide the same excitement that this past weekend dished out.
