There are many events in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that may have you antsy waiting for the next day. Unfortunately, the “next day” in New Horizons doesn’t start at midnight like it does in real life.
The next day begins at 5 a.m. every morning. For example, if you have a building under construction, it won’t be finished at midnight, but rather at 5 a.m. If you finish paying off your home loan at 4:50 a.m., you will get your housing upgrade 10 minutes later. Resources like ore, wood, and even the Money Rock will reset at this time, too. Make sure you do all of your daily tasks before then.
The day can change while you’re playing. As you enter or leave a building, the screen will turn black for an extended period of time, as it’s loading all of the new things for the next day. Then Tom Nook (or Isabelle, if you have the Resident Services building upgrade) will do his usual announcements.
