What We Know So Far

A Venom 3 release date window has been revealed by Variety and the movie is scheduled for an October 2024 release. This ultimately puts the movie in close proximity to the October 4 release of DC’s beloved villain sequel, Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker: Folie á Deux.

The movie will potentially come out three years after 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage, with Kelly Marcel, the screenplay writer for the Venom franchise, coming back to direct the third instalment. Tom Hardy will also be reprising his role as the iconic duo, Eddie Brock and Venom, who were last seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home’s post-credit scene.

In the Sony and Marvel Studios crossover, Brock was transported in and out of the MCU, accidentally leaving behind a small chunk of Venom symbiote - suggesting that MCU’s Spider-Man might come into contact with it soon.

There are a bunch of interesting new names that are confirmed to be joining Tom Hardy in Venom 3, including Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The lineup as of now seems to be promising but the casting of Ejiofor is particularly a fascinating choice considering his major appearance in the MCU as Baron Mordo.

Following the events of Loki on Disney+, the multiverse in the MCU has been expanding and people are curious if Ejiofor’s Mordo might act as the bridge between the MCU and Sony’s Marvel universe. However, it is worth noting that there have been multiple actors who play various characters across comic book movies, including Oscar Isaac and Michelle Yeoh.

Now, a lot of details surrounding the movie have yet to be confirmed by Sony but there are a bunch of theories and leaks online that have spread across the internet. One purported leak that received fans’ attention was made by a Reddit user called u/OrionSTARBOY which was posted a few months ago. Fair warning: the following article contains spoilers for the possible plot of Venom 3.

Allegedly, the user came in contact with a crewmember who worked on Venom: Let There Be Carnage in 2020 and struck up a conversation with him. The user claimed he obtained a draft summary of the plot but it may not be the version we see on the silver screen. You can read the full post here, but remember to take it with a grain of salt.

The plot leak claims that Eddie and Venom will be returning where we left off after the events of No Way Home’s post-credit scene in the same tiki bar. Only, the bartender and decorations are different.

The leak also indicated that at some point in the movie, Sony’s Spider-Man played by Andrew Garfield might make an appearance again, suggesting that he is back in the same universe as Eddie Brock/Venom. The two finally crossed paths in a fight before it was cut short by Toxin, now in the body of Detective Patrick Mulligan, who attacked them both ferociously.

After chaos ensues in the middle of the movie, the user suggested that the end credits scene will feature Jared Leto’s Morbius The Living Vampire. The legitimacy of this post is debatable, but it is the most interesting one to read so far.

Aside from this supposed plot leak, nothing major has been confirmed by Sony and news about the future of Eddie Brock/Venom is still very sparse.
