WOMAN MAULED BY DOG

HOLLYWOOD — A woman was severely injured when she was mauled by a neighbor’s dog on Sunday.

Julia Benjamin-Foster was taken to Memorial Hospital after the dog bit her in the left breast and arm about 4 p.m. while she sat in her back yard in the 6600 block of Eaton Road, police said. Hospital officials said the woman was in stable condition.

Benjamin-Foster, 35, is a television actress and lives part time in Hollywood as well as New York City and Los Angeles, said her husband, Peter Foster. She was in town for a visit, Foster said.

Police say the dog, which resembled an Akita, escaped from a fenced-in compound from a nearby house. Officers were not able to positively identify the dog’s owner.

Broward County Animal Control officers have the dog in custody, and the attack is under investigation, police said.
